Stora Enso Fors commissions Andritz Küsters

Krefeld, 06 December 2007 – The Stora Enso Group has placed an order for a calender (Prime Cal Hard) with Multi-HV technology from Andritz Küsters GmbH for retrofitting the BM2 at the paper mill in Fors. The calender has a working width of approximately four meters and is designed for a production speed of up to 700 m/min. Depending on the paper produced the line force is adjustable from 10 up to a maximum of 100 N/mm. The surface temperature of the heated roll is 300° C. Background of the investment is the targeted optimization of the production flexibility (180 to 380 g/m2), while improving quality and cost efficiency at the same time. In addition, the annual production of the BM2 increases by 13,000 tons.

Besides the calender, the order comprises of the web feeder system (Prime Feeder) for feeding the web into the coating installation, a VIB spray dampener as well as the retrofitting of the dry section. To create space for the new calender, the range will be shortened before the coating installation by four drying cylinders. Three of these cylinders will then be reinstalled in the front and middle part.

Apart from technological aspects, the daily experience of operating the machines already installed and the joint project experience in rebuilding the BM3 were decisive factors for awarding the project to Andritz Küsters.
