Laminating and Embossing with Ultrasonic Technology

neXcal ultrasonic

Bonding and laminating with ultrasonic is a thermo-mechanical process. The energy needed for this is a transmitted to the fabric by means of high-frequency vibration.
In the gap between the weld-horn and the roll surface heat is only generated at the engraving point by friction of the fibres against each other.
The fibres melt and are welded together. In this process roll and weld-horn are only moderately warmed up.
Thus thermoplastic materials with different melting and softening points can be laminated.
Start-up time for heating is not necessary.

The roll specialist ANDRITZ Küsters produces for this process engraved rolls which show no radial run-out during the bonding process but maintain their cylindrical form.
The precision of the rolls, the bedding of the weld-horns as well as the precise control system guarantee a constantly even and consistent process continuously over the entire roll width.
