Adding Value by Impregnation

The demands on modern nonwovens and their manufacturing process are steadily increasing. By impregnation with a wide range of chemicals, nonwovens acquire manifold functionalities and a marked added value.
The ANDRITZ Küsters
with S-Roll technology was especially developed to suit the manufacturing conditions in the nonwoven industry and can be universally used for all current finishing products.

Fluorocarbon Finishing
Through fluorocarbons nonwovens obtain repellent properties (alcohol, oil, water). Together with the chemical industry ANDRITZ Küsters has conducted an extensive study on the subject application of fluorocarbons on nonwovens and on the ensuing drying/curing process.
The most important results: The padder application is indispensable to obtain optimum finishing effects. Infrared predrying presents an additional possibility for optimisation of the process. Depending on the type of fluorocarbon used different additional effects are achieved.

Foam Application
For foamable liquors such as many binder systems foam application is the alternative to the traditional dip padder and offers several process advantages. The substitution of water by air leads to markedly reduced residual moisture of the material after impregnation. The required drying perfomance is reduced significantly. At a given dryer capacity production speed can be increased accordingly.

Time to Team up
Only perfect teaming up between machine manufacturers, chemical industry and nonwovens producers guarantees best product results in wet finishing processes.
ANDRITZ Küsters has a targeted cooperation with suppliers of auxiliaries which links mechanical engineering competence with know-how from the chemical field, to reach optimal process solutions that meet the requirements of the nonwoven industry.
For this reason, ANDRITZ Küsters will install a
nonwoven padder in the Reicofil®4 pilot line at the STFI (Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut / Saxon Textile Research Institue). As from mid 2008 a
(roll surface width 1,400 mm) will be available there for inline trials.
