ANDRITZ KÜSTERS today

The Andritz Küsters GmbH with approximately 480 employees is positioned at three locations, in Germany (Krefeld), Switzerland (Bülach) and in the USA (Spartanburg). Together with the representations, which have mostly been active for Küsters world-wide for many years, they offer our customers continuously available consulting, technologically state-of-the-art machinery and comprehensive service. The wide experience from individual problem solving, the excellent technical basis of our products, the outstanding qualification of our staff as well as their exceptional readiness to serve, and, last but not least, the reliably smooth start-ups are perhaps the most important cornerstones on which our reputation has been built.

Our roots

The name Küsters is always associated with the “Swimming Roll”. It revolutionised the manufacturing and finishing processes in the textile, nonwoven and paper industry. Only with the deflection-controlled (Swimming Roll Küsters®) was it possible to overcome the narrow limitations of web processes. Besides the technological recognition the great leap in capacity was surely one of the main reasons for Eduard Küsters to be admitted to the North American “Hall of Fame” of the paper industry. An award that just one single European had received before him.

Since the patent registration in 1956 the roll technology has changed greatly and undergone further differentiation. Today the Swimming Roll Küsters (S-Roll) is standard in many machines, whereas special demands are met with the HyCon-Roll (nonwoven) or Multi HV-Roll (paper).

To render the possibility that ANDRITZ KÜSTERS always stands a chance of becoming industrial standard we invest a lot of time and money in research and development. Only the one who has an in-depth understanding of his customers’ problems can develop solutions that do not cure the symptom, but the cause. The technical centres of both areas of industry are, therefore, always maintained in keeping with the state-of-the-art and are equipped with the latest machinery, which allow for both individual problem solving as well as product development. Little wonder that both technical centres are well booked by customers for more than 200 days in a year.

Our goals

The customer was always Eduard Küsters’ centre of attention. For the House of ANDRITZ KÜSTERS the highest maxim was and is always to meet the customer’s needs as closely as possible and with as much technological expenditure as needed. Till today this has worked successfully for us. It is the customers that come back to us – not our products.

Our goals derive from this experience: In future, too, we want to build on our reputation which is nurtured by a reliable partnership with our customers and the technologically innovative ANDRITZ KÜSTERS products. This is the way we wish to grow further and anchor high quality mechanical engineering at all our locations.
